Adamawa: Bishop urges churches to open rural primary schools
From Umar Dankano Yola
In an effort to improve the educational standard of children, especially in the rural areas, the newly installed Bishop of the LLCN, Mayobelwa Diocese, in Adamawa State, Rt Reverend Zechan Gajere has called churches to open primary schools in rural areas to extend educational opportunities to poor children.
Gajere decried lack of educational facilities and man power in public schools especially in the rural areas, saying religious bodies should help less privileged children.
“We hope to open primary schools to provide quality education for children in our villages because government schools cannot prepare students to compete,” he stated.
He also indicated the need for the church to establish more hospitals, saying the only hospital they have in Mayobelwa could not cater for the communities.
He added that the government dispensaries in villages were dysfunctional, calling on government to resuscitate them.
He urged Nigerians to use religion as unifying factor and not dividing one.
