Chanchangi Airline chair, Ahmadu laid to rest in Kaduna

The crocodile city of Kaduna yesterday went agog with crowd who came to witness the burial of Kaduna state business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi, Chairman Chanchangi Airline.
Immediately the news of the demise of the late business mogul filtered in, his residence at Chanchangi Estate, Tudun Wada in Kaduna South Local Government Area was besieged by sympathizers who thronged to the place in their thousands to express their condolences to the family of a man they described as a man with a heart of gold.
When this reporter visited the apartment around 8am all the feeder roads leading to his residence was queued with vehicles whose owners were waiting for the arrival of the corpse from Abuja.
When the corpse finally arrived around 12.45pm, the mammoth crowd became uncontrollable. The police and other security operatives had a hectic task in trying to control the crowd, and had to be supported by the local Vigilante group.
The final prayer for the reposed of his soul was led by Sheikh Mahmoud Gumi and supported by some Islamic clerics. The prayer was later conducted around 1.22pm and the corpse was moved from the residence to the final resting place, Bachama Road Cemetery.
The journey from his residence to the cemetery which ideally supposed to take about 15minutes, took about 3hours as people in hundreds of thousands where shouting; ‘Innalillahi Wainnailahi-Rajuun’ all the way.
Among the dignitaries that witnessed the funeral prayer include: Former Kaduna state Governors, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi; Dr. Ramalan Yero; former PDP Chairman, Yaro Makama Rikachikun and Sheikh Sanusi Rikachikun.
In his owned remark, Senator representing Kaduna Central at the Upper Chamber, Shehu Sani said; “I received the sad news of the passing away of one of Northern Nigeria’s foremost industrialist and philanthropist. He lived a fulfilled and accomplished life of service to his people and to his faith. He was a rich man of the poor. He lived with the poor, served the poor and dedicated his material wealth to the advancement of peace and unity amongst diverse peoples and communities.
“Late Alhaji Ahmadu was a symbol of selfless and tireless commitment and dedication to the cause of the poor within his community and his reach. He lifted millions from ignorance and illiteracy and gave hope to generations of young people. He lived for others and gave his life to others. He inspired others with his success and challenged the wealthy to his path.
