The coach of Sporting Dreams Football Club has stated that the target of the team in the ongoing FCT preseason tournament is to play In knock out stage.
Coach of the side, NamadiOnuigbo, stated this on Saturday after his boys defeated their opponents, Conquerors, 2-1 in the Day-2 of the tournament.
In an interview after the match, the young coach said although his boys played well and was rewarded with the three points at stake, there are still lapses within the team adding that in their second match against Flomat FC today, he will work on the lapses to ensure victory.
The coach who stated that his team was the youngest amongst the participating clubs, added that his target was to play in the knockout stage.
According to him, “We played a good match against a strong team and the scoreline showed our reward and determination although the score could have been more but for the chances my boys missed.
“Clearly from all indications, we are the youngest team in the tournament, but the quality of football my young lads exhibited was amazing. I am elated by the performance and the result.
“We made some mistakes in our defense and we have to do more work on our finishing. We will work on these to ensure we have a better outing against Flomat FC, another good side.
“Our Minimum target in this tournament is the knockout phase,” Coach Nnamdi added.
On how his team is motivated in achieving the target, Coach Onuigbo declared “The boys are highly motivated and rearing to go. While we are weary of the big lions in the group, we have confidence in our quality of work and talent to help us qualify from the group and go as far as possible. This competition would serve as a quality preparation for Sporting Dreams Football Club ahead of their FA Cup later in the year and the Bayern Cup National finals,” he concluded.
Sporting Dreams FC will have their hands handy today when they take on high-flying side, Flomat FC who whitewashed their opponents, Super Lions of Suleja, 7-0 in the opener on Friday.
