Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar yesterday sworn-in eighteen newly appointed Commissioners with the immediate announcement of their portfolio to serve as members of the State Executive Council (SEC) within the next four years of his second tenure.

Yari, who charged the Commissioners to be God-fearing while discharging the primary assignments given to them, urged them to ensure the people oriented policy and the economic developing activities of the state government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are their priority immediately they assume office.

The governor warned the Commissioners to focus on the necessary needs of the good people of the state rather than to negatively become busy in thinking of creating selfish ways meant for making themselves rich out of the state government’s resources marked for the development of the state economy.

He noted that the nation’s major economic source itself has rapidly declined to the extent that all allocations were made below needs, therefore, “We have decided to embark upon utilising the activities attached to the mining and agriculture as we have a high concentration of viable mineral resources even capable of substituting the oil”.

“As a government, we will renew our determination to attract both local and foreign investors to invest in our economy especially in mining and agriculture. The federal government of today is working tirelessly to revitalise critical infrastructures in place for our economy to diversify instead of relying on oil as single commodity to earn foreign exchange”, Yari stressed.

Majority of Commissioners who eventually served during last four years of Governor Yari did not retain their portfolio as former Commissioner of Housing and Town Planning, Mukhtar Shehu Idris was announced to serve as new Commissioner of Finance.

Also former Commissioner of Information and his counterpart that overlooked the state ministry of finance, Ibrahim Muhammad Birninmagaji and Mukhtar Lugga respectively during last tenure, were virtually assigned to man the ministries of Budget and Economic Planning and Education as well.
