Jigawa approves N2.9 Billion for Health, Education projects

The Jigawa state executive council has approved the release of over N2.9 billion for the execution of various projects in the state health and education sector.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Information, Hon Bala Ibrahim, while briefing newsmen shortly after a meeting held at Government House in Dutse.
He explained that in line with the concerted efforts of the State government toward ensuring access to secondary healthcare services for the state teaming populace, it approved and awarded the contract for the construction of 3 new general hospital in Guri, Garki and Buji local governments at the total coast of N1.497 billion with completion period of twelve month.
The commissioner added that to ensure the production of adequate manpower to manage the growing number of health facilities in the state, the government awarded contract for the construction of new school of nursing and midwifery in Babura local government at the cost of N591.56 million, with completion period of 12 month.
Hon Bala however revealed that to tackle the challenges of growing number of school enrollment and retention created by state policy on education “Education Change Agenda”, the state government approved N819.60 million for various projects in the sector.
According to him, the projects included the construction of additional 3 class rooms and six unit toilets in 26 Secondary schools across the state.
He also revealed that other projects included contracts for the renovation of class rooms, wall fence, provision of power generators in about five secondary schools.
“The council rectified the contract awarded for the supply of 12,243 students’ seats which include 8,243 for Islamiya primary and Arabic secondary schools and 4,000 for conventional senior secondary schools in the state.
“The council also rectified the contract awarded for the supply of 2,000 units of double dormitory bed for onward distribution to boarding schools in the state”, Hon Bala said.
The commissioner however reiterated the commitment of the state government to execute laudable projects and programmes that would improve the social and economic life of its citizens in accordance with All Progressive Congress (APC) philosophy.
He then urged the people of Jigawa state to continue to support the Governor Badaru led administration for a better Jigawa state.
