New signing at UD Levante of Spain, Moses Simon may have dropped other promising offers elsewhere to hook up with the modest club, based on his observation that the team once paid the wages of fellow-Nigerian star, Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins.
Though Martins spent only one full season at Levante before moving to Seattle Sounders of America, Simon is banking on the Nigerian foundation at his new club to help him settle down fast and hit top form.
That, according to a credible source close to the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium winger, formed the basis of his decision to snub other equally tempting offers from St. Etienne of France and another Spanish club, Valencia.
Simon, who won the Belgian league with Gent in his first season after his transfer from Trencin, joined Levante for 4.5m pounds after he passed a routine medical with the La Liga club on Sunday.
Levante were locked with Valencia and St. Etienne in the chase for the crafty winger, who missed the 2018 World Cup in Russia because of a thigh injury. The 23-year-old star, who has signed a five-year deal, also won the Belgian league in the 2014-15 season and Super Cup title in the 2015-16 campaign during his stint with Gent.
