Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state said his administration’s policies in the agricultural sector have made farming more attractive and profitable.
The governor made this assertion when he received APC youths who paid him a condolence visit at the Government House in Katsina over the death of Senator Kanti Bello.
Alhaji Aminu Masari said the state government inherited a security crisis that obstructed farming and livestock breeding in the central and southern parts of the state.
He noted that the state government has restored security to these areas by granting amnesty to the armed robbers and cattle rustlers, a policy that has guaranteed safety for farmers and pastoralists in the state.
Governor Masari also pointed out that the government’s fertiliser subsidy has made the commodity more affordable to farmers across the state which has also minimised their cost of production.
He urged youths to venture into farming as a means of becoming self-reliant and productive members of the society.
Governor Masari said his administration was also working towards the mechanisation of agriculture which will make it more attractive to youths and other age-groups in the state.
