Plateau United eye top NPFL finish in fist stanza
Plateau United defender, Emmanuel Olowo has said his side will finish at the summit top-flight first stanza campaign.
The Tin City side are just one point behind leaders, Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC and have a rare chance to upstage the Lagos outfit when they square up against newcomers, Katsina United in today’s top-flight matchday 19 clash at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
Olowo said his side will not allow the golden opportunity to climb to the summit slip off their hands when they confront the top-flight newcomers, Katsina United.
“Nobody needs remind us of the importance of the clash against Katsina United as it concerns climbing to the top of the top-flight log. Our prayers are that leaders, MFM FC falter at Akwa United while we win convincingly against Katsina United.
“We want to end the first stanza on top so that’s an added motivation for us to come up with our best performance against Katsina United.
“A lot has been said about the match especially on the need for us to avoid complacency and over confidence in the match.
Our coach has reminded us that the clash is one of the matches we must approach with all sense of seriousness.
“We are further reminded that Katsina United are newcomers in the top-flight but not pushovers and if we must win we have to come up with the best performance.
“We have already told ourselves of the need to come to the party with our best performance to ensure we claim the whole points at stake.
“Of course, we have agreed that nothing less than outright and convincing victory will be acceptable to us.
“The joy to be the leaders at the end of first term is quite overwhelming and we will work very hard to see it to reality,” said the former Abia Warriors and Heartland strongman to supersport.com.
The Jos landlords are second on the 20-team top-flight on 32 points one behind league leaders, MFM FC with a game to spare at champions, Enugu Rangers.
