Team Nigeria on Tuesday soared over Congo DR beating her 3-0 major set in the pool B of the 2017 Women’s African Nations Championship in Cameroon. The Falcons in front of the Cameroonian fans humbled the Congolese 25-19, 25-14 and 25-15 inside the Palais des Sports Hall.
The four time runners-up came out smoking hot, capitalizing on the errors of the spirited Democratic Republic of Congo side.
The experienced of duo Precillia Agera (captain) and Jalmet Ladi motivated the Falcons to maintain the tempo in the second as well as third set of the highly tensed game.
During the second set break, the head coach, Usman Abdullahi charged the girls to win the game for their fellow countrymen who believe in their struggle.
Elsewhere in Pool A Egypt triumph over Botswana 25-14, 25-18, 25-21.
Meanwhile, defending champions Kenya and hosts Cameroon confirmed their semifinal tickets with their victories over Congo and Algeria respectively leading both preliminary Pools.
The competition is also a World Championship qualifier as the top two teams in the continental championship will to play at next year’s World Championships, due to take place in Japan from September 29 to October 20.
