One person was killed and others injured and several houses were razed down in an attack by unknown gunmen at Wasasa village, in Tafawa-Balewa LGA of Bauchi state.
The incident, which occurred in the lately hours of Sunday, was said to have caused pandemonium among residents of the area, whereby people ran helter-skelter for their dear lives.
It was gathered that during the night attack, some under-age children were said to be among the gunshot victims, with several others fleeing the village for safety.
It was learnt that the unknown gunmen stormed the area when residents were sleeping and started shooting sporadically to scare people and succeeded in burning several houses and subsequently fleeing into thin air before the arrival of security men.
The sources confirmed to journalists that only one person was killed while others were injured, including several houses burnt.
According to the source, already, security personnel have been dispatched to the troubled zone, with a view to unravel the perpetrators, assuring that those arrested will face the full wrath of the law.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi state police command’s spokesman, DSP Mohammed Haruna, who confirmed the attack, said one person was killed and one injured while a house was burnt down in Wasasa village in Tafawa-Balewa.
Haruna added that no arrest was effected, but that the command has already dispatched police to the area.
