Unknown gunmen, on Tuesday night invaded three villages of Rim district of Riyom local government area of Plateau state and killed nine persons.
The Special Task Force (STF) restoring peace in the state, who confirmed the attack yesterday, said 24 houses were also burnt down in the attack, adding that three persons have been apprehended in connection with the attack.
In a similar vein, on Tuesday, another attack was lunched in three villages of Shendam local government area of the state where one person was killed and many houses burnt following alleged rustling of cows by the suspected Tarok members.
The STF spokesperson, Captain Salisu Mustafa, who confirmed the two attacks, said, “Nine persons were killed in three villages of Riyom while one other was killed in a village around Yelwa when cattle rustlers fought with herdsmen. Two people were in injured around Yelwa while 19 cows were shot dead”.
The member representing Riyom in the state House of Assembly, Daniel Dem, alleged that the STF in the area was conniving with the gunmen to launching attacks in the area but the STF media officer denied the accusation, saying that it was not possible for the security to be involved in such incident.
