No fewer than 1401 prospective corps members comprising 716 males and 685 females are expected by the National Youth Service Corps for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation course at the NYSC temporary Orientation Camp Government College Kaduna.
According to the State Coordinator of NYSC Hassan Taura, the prospective corps members have been of good behaviour and are responding well to training.
He added that with the level of commitment and dedication that they have exhibited so far, “I am confident that we are going to have a smooth exercise.”
Taura however drew the attention of the prospective Corps Members, that the Orientation Course is a fundamental aspect of the NYSC programme meant to prepare them for the service year.
“ In this regard, you will be engaged in language lessons to enable you to communicate effectively with the people of your host communities.
“You will also go through leadership training, para-military drills, and self-defense training.
“In addition, you will undergo Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training to enable you to become job creators instead of job seekers at the end of your service year.
“ Apart from all these, inter-platoon competitions in sports and social activities have been arranged for you to relax and develop your talents through healthy competition,” he said
In his remarks, Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State urged the Corp members to conduct themselves in a manner that will promote national unity.
The Governor was represented by His Special Adviser on Revenue, Waziri Umar the governor urged the corps members to see the state as their home.
He opined that the Orientation Course program is packaged to acquaint you with all you need to know for a successful service year.
