In a bid encourage to strive for excellence, the three year old Federal University Dutse (FUD), has awarded scholarship to 16 of its best students from various departments.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Dahiru Jibirila Ameen disclosed this during an interactive session with news men as part of the three years anniversary of the university.
He explained that the university would pay one year registration fees and other academic charges for all the outstanding students and the process would be sustained as part of the university culture to encourage hard work.
Prof Jibirila also revealed that, the university was in its third academic session with a total of 1,597 students, 212 academic staffs.
Adding that by the end of this year they would relocate to the permanent site of the University.
“As the university prepares to graduate its first set of its students by 2015, we are also set to establish a centre for Arid Zone Ecology and Centre for Social and Economic Research in the university.
“More so, we will commence a postgraduate programme next year, and in the next two years we will establish three new faculties, including Medicine, Health Science, faculty of Management Science and Faculty of Education.”
He also called on the private sector to come and invest in the university particularly in the building of hostel accommodations within and outside the university for both the students and staff.
