The new state executive of the All Progressive Congress [APC] in Niger state has said its mission was to salvage the state and pledged to always struggle for change on the path of sustainable development and good governance.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, who decried the outright display of unseriouness by the PDP led government in the state in the recent cabinet reshuffle embarked upon by the state government.
According to the APC spokesman “it was clear that the exercise was an action aimed at securing the political interest of the governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu rather than service to the people of the state.’’
He pointed out that all well meaning people of the state would just wonder the wisdom behind creating ministries like Special Duties just about one year to the end of the administration, stressing that there was no gain saying that the exercise was aimed at draining the purse of the government instead of fast tracking its development.
While it was a known fact to all the people of the state that the state administration was always out for window dressing and cosmetics, Vatsa alleged further that it was embellished with gubernatorial rehetoric to deceive people.
The recent cabinet reshuffle, according to the opposition party, was a mere waste of governmental time and resources because according to the APC, “it was just mere recycling of the same old hands to serve the governor’s political ambition for 2015 and give him safe landing.”
According to the opposition, the PDP lead government is one where hypocrisy, self aggrandizement and greed was synonymous to excellence and qualify one to be appointed into political office.
The party challenged the state government to explain to the public why the street-lights along government house road through the Old Airport Road that was installed not quite long is being changed without any cogent explanation instead of trying to embark on fruitless cabinet reshuffle.
It therefore advised the government to stop deceiving the people of the state with rhetorics and wild elephant ideas that ends only on the pages of newspapers. He called on the governor to stop the recklessness in the financial structure of the state.
