From Raji Bello, Sokoto
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Sokoto state, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Yabo, said disunity among the leaders of the PDP is the obstacle to the party’s quest to win the governorship election in the state in 2015.
Yabo, a one-time governorship aspirant, told journalists that “such attitude would not augur well for the PDP, especially now that the party was poised to wrest power from the APC.”
He observed that the PDP leaders in the state, were busy scheming against one another in order to achieve their individual selfish goals.
Yabo also maintained that unless the leaders of the PDP drop their personal ambition and work for the common good, it could affect the party’s quest to wrest power from the APC in 2015.
“The PDP leadership in Sokoto is currently facing the challenge of lack of unity of purpose. This is due to the fact that political titans are struggling for positions rather than working with synergy to enhance membership drive,” he said.
“The leadership of the PDP in the state must drop their personal ambition and work as a team to make the party strong and stable. This is necessary in order to clinch the governorship election in 2015,”Yabo averred.
He advised the PDP leadership in the state to refrain from undue scramble for positions at the detriment of the party’s objectives by working assiduously to strengthen the party.
Yabo expressed his readiness to contest for the 2015 governorship elections in the state, saying the people of Sokoto were in dire need of change and purposeful leadership.
