The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed the firm optimism that the emergence of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the party presidential candidate will open ways for Nigerians.
The BoT, in a statement by its Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, disclosed that Atiku was nakedly sabotage by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in 2019.
The BoT, which is regarded as the conscience of the PDP, stressed that that electing Atiku as the party presidential candidate is a big success for PDP and a good omen for all Nigerians.
According to the BoT, “Atiku’s success at the recently concluded PDP primaries has opened a good way for all Nigerians when it comes to 2023 General election to elect Nigerian President.
“We must remember that Atiku was in 2019 elected at the PDP presidential primary in Port-Harcout, but was nakedly surbotaged by APC through unholy way,” the Board said.
Describing Atiku’s quality when he was the Vice President under Olusegun Obasanjo, the BoT said that he’s not a tribalist, adding that he’s the best man for Nigeria President.
The BoT congratulated the party, the delegates, the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the success of the success of the presidential primary.
The Board of Trustees also congratulated Senator David Mark and his committees for organising one of the best National convention after the Port-Harcout convention chaired by Governor Okowa of Delta state in 2019.
The Board said, “My advice as the PDP BoT Chairman, is that we must come together as one entity and speak with one voice to make our party greater, not only in Nigeria but Africa.
“Atiku is Nigerian President and never a tribal or any religion President,” the BoT said.
The BoT said that it will assist the party and Atiku to come out with very acceptable Vice President from the southern part of the country.
