As Nigeria marks her 63rd Independence anniversary, Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has urged Nigerians to wake up and contribute their quota to the growth of the country.
Governor Alia gave the charge at a symposium on Saturday organized by the State government to commemorate the nation’s Independence anniversary held at Government House, Makurdi.
The Governor observed that the eras of pre and post Indepeendence have been significant in shaping the country even as he said that there has been a lot of challenges and strides achieved.
“Independence is a call to patriotism.
A lot of strides have been made and what we need to do from here is, how to sustain it by imbibing the culture of maintenance.
“We should think of what I can contribute to make the State and nation glorious, how to uplift the State and nation. We ought to ask, do we have the will power to make the Benue of our new dream work? We need to wake up to make our state and nation better. It is our state and nation and we must live up to the task ahead.
“We have the machineries, economic, well being as well as security of the State to make a difference. It is my desire and prayer that Benue becomes the leading State in the country”, Rev. Alia said.
