African Action Congress (AAC) has insisted that the Anambra State governorship election must be held on November 6, as scheduled, even as it warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against contemplating shifting the date for the election.
In a statement issued yesterday by the National Chairman of the party, Leonard Nzenwa, AAC said it is ready for the poll and has been mobilizing the people of Anambra State for a hitch free exercise that will produce a competent, visionary, purposeful Governor who will meet the aspirations of the people for good governance and faithfully implement AAC’s people-oriented manifesto.
The party vowed to resist those it described as ‘tired, retired and recycled politicians’ in the state who want to truncate the election by sponsoring and parading multiple candidates for their parties and shopping across the country for favourable court orders and judgments that will keep the election on hold indefinitely.
The party, according to the statement, said “We wish to state categorically that Anambra State is not for sale. This election will be a defining moment for the good people of Anambra State who want to take back their government as power resides in the people.
“AAC victory in the November election will end the elongated godfatherism in Anambra and retire the cabal that has held the state hostage since the emergence of our democracy in 1999. The people want a breath of fresh air in progressive governance, a departure from the clumsy leadership fatigue that characterizes the present and past governments in the state.
“It is apparent that the outgoing APGA government is overwhelmed by the burden of leadership. We urge the good people of Anambra State to reject political buccaneers parading as democrats with eyes on the State treasury to loot.”
The party said AAC is on a rescue mission to make Anambra State great again as the indisputable commercial/industrial hub of Nigeria, adding that it is its promise and social contract with Anambra people, as a vote for AAC is a vote for progress, development and advancement.
“Together, we will build a new Anambra State that the future generations will be proud of. To achieve this, all eligible persons should register and obtain their permanent voter cards, and come out en masse on November 6 to vote and ensure their votes are counted and count in the overall result.
“Support the winning party, support and vote for AAC. It is time to return power to the people”, the statement said.
