Gombe State government said it spenT a total sum of N12 millon to purchase annual vaccination against Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia in cattle, sheep and goats.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya stated this yesterday while flagging off the event in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
He said his administration found it necessary to key into this menace which was neglected by the past administration for three to four years now.
According to him, the vaccination exercise is expected to carryout annually with the aimed at keeping livestock alive.
He said Gombe state government has received a sum $200m equivalent to N800m to maintain the commence of RUGA at Wawa Zenge adding that if the money is used judiciously there will be no problem of unemployment even as he said arrangement has been made to bring Chinese expats to the state to build a befitting abattoir for the benefit of the people.
He warned that anyone found wanting without following rules and regulations guided the vaccination exercise will be penalized accordingly.
Speaking earlier at the event, Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal husbandry Alhaji Mohammed Magaji thanked governor Yahaya for his foresight to inject N12m for annually vaccination to avert diseases in livestock and appealed to government to do everything it could to recruit more Veterinary Doctors as the state only have eight Veterinary Doctors and twenty-four superintendents to control 1.1million cattle.
