The immediate past caretaker secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and leading gubernatorial aspirant in Akwa Ibom state, Senator John James Akpanudohede has dismissed the claim of division in the land of promise’s chapter of the party.
Akpanudohede said this after submitting his completed nomination and expression of interest forms today May 12.
Reacting to the intrigues and factions of the party dotting the state, he said “It is interest. Are you telling me that with the number of Presidential aspirants that APC is divided? It is interest. All is interest, different interest. Once you have a candidate, acceptable candidate; everybody will come together to win the general election for the party”.
While arguing that he is the best candidate going into the primary, Akpanudoedehe said “I have been in this game for a long time and I have been inspired to serve my people each time. In 2015 and in 2019, my people have been calling me to come out.
“I believe that my party will win. I have been one of the founding members of the party, I played different roles in the party. I was the National Caretaker Secretary of the party. I am the one to win the election for this party.”
On the purported faceoff between him and the former governor of the state and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, he said, “We are friends, I was his DG and we are in-laws, so do not put your mouth where you are not supposed to put your mouth. Politicians can fight in the media but it is not true.”
