The prosecutor, Insp. Audu Bitrus, told the court that a team of police detectives on patrol arrested the accused person, and lodged a report at the Life Camp Police Station on June 8.
Bitrus said on June 8, at about 4.30 p.m., the accused, resident of Dape Village, had a misunderstanding with his fiancée which led to a fight.
He said the fiancée screamed loud for help and the complainant ran to the house to separate the fight.
Bitrus alleged that in the process, the accused hit him with a pestle on his head.
He said Audu sustained severe injury and was receiving medical treatment at the Gwarinpa General Hospital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr. Abdullateef Abolaji, granted the accused bail for N10, 000 and two reasonable sureties.
Abolaji ordered that the sureties must have a means of livelihood, a known and defined address and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He said they should also deposit their driver’s licences or national ID card with the court registry and adjourned the case until June 20 for hearing proper. (NAN)
