According to the statement, the new Commander, Armoured Corps (CAC), Major General Gaiya is a seasoned senior Armoured Officer who has held various command and staff appointments and was the Commander of the 21 and 22 Armoured Brigades in Maiduguri and Ilorin respectively.
Prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Administration at Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), headquarters, who assumed duty as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps after the routine military ceremonial handing and taking over that took place at the Quarter Guard in Obienu Barracks.
