The Plateau state police command yesterday said it deployed enough security personnel to ensure hitch free local government polls in the state expected to hold today.
The state commissioner of police, Chris Olakpe , disclosed this to Journalists at police command’s headquarters in Jos barely 24 hours before the elections.
He urged the general public to comply with the rules and regulations guiding elections conduct in the state.
The commissioner stressed that movement from one local government area to another is restricted from dusk to dawn, except electoral officials and security personnel, fire service and medical officers .
Olakpe tasked the general public to shy away from snatching/hijacking ballot boxes, arms proliferation, use of psychotropic substances/drugs and all forms of crime and criminalities.
He warned politicians in the state not to overheat the polity and also avoid rumour mongering.
Chris Olakpe called on the people to report any visible violation of electoral law /acts of criminality to the police and other security agencies
Meanwhile the state independent electoral commission (PLASIEC) has excluded Wase and Jos North LGAs in today’s exercise, adding that the exclusion of Wase and Jos north was due to security reasons.
