The Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare has urged the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Akali Baba to prioritise the welfare of Nigeria police personnel.
The Royal father disclosed this when the police boss led top officers on a familiarization tour to his palace on Tuesday in Benin city, Edo State Capital.
He identified lack of accommodation, poor remuneration and non availability of modern equipment as counter productive to the operations of the force.
He implored the IGP to deploy high technological equipment in cracking down criminals instead of relying on old system.
Oba Ewuare assured his guests that the Benin throne is determined to support the police to eradicate crimes in Nigeria.
Earlier the Inspector-General of police, Mr Usman Akali Baba told the monarch that he was in Benin on a familiarization tour to boost the morale of officers and men of the force
He further solicited for royal prayers and blessings and pledged his determination in preventing and fighting crime.
