The younger brother to wife of president Muhammadu Buhari,Dr.Mahmud Halilu
popularly called ‘Modi’ has join the governorship race under the All
Progressives Congress in Adamawa state.
Modi,who declared his intention Monday in Yola amidst unprecedented crowd
of his supporters stormed the state party’s secretariat in the afternoon
and was received by the party executives led by its chairman,Alhaji Ibrahim
Billal.
Modi said while addressing the leadership and stakeholders present at the
venue that,his decision to vie for the gubernatorial seat of the state
under APC was informed out of the urgent need to contribute his quota in
the development of the state and safe Adamawa the state from systematic
failure of Bindows administration.
He expressed concerned that the present administration in the state has
neglected all sectors and continued to corner all contracts to themselves
to the extend that no any indegeneous contractor in the state is executing
any project in Adamawa
Modi further accused the administration of dishonesty and sincerity in the
running of the affairs of the state and impoverish the people of Adamawa
state leading to high level of criminality and emergenced of shilla boys in
the state.
He promised to carry the party excos along and turn Adamawa state into a
model state and give priority to all vital sectors of the state as well as
come out with various youth empowerment programmes.
Even as he frown at the high level of poverty in the state saying that
Adamawa under the present administration continued to witnessed systematic
failure and he dolled out the sum of 10 million to the party excos to
enable them carry on with party activities in the state.
Responding to their visitor,chairman Alh.Ibrahim Bilal assured all
aspirants under the platform of the party of level playing party .
He explained that APC is a party of justice and will be fair ,honest and
just to all the aspirants and called on all the party members in the state
to unite and worked together in the interest of the party irrespective of
the outcome of the primaries.
Even as he hit hard at those who took the party to court over the recent
party congresses in the state and called on party members to bury their
hatchet and join hands with the excos and delivered the party in the state
come 2019.
However,some political pundits in the state opined that the re-election bid
of the Incumbent Governor Muhammad Jirilla Bindowo is becoming slimy by the
day as many rate the performances of his led administration as below
average in all sectors.
With this development the stage is now set for a keenly contested primaries
between Gov.Bindow jibrilla,Buhari Inlaw,Engr.Markus Gundiri and former
EFCC chairman Mallam.Nuhu Ribadau.
