The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abdullahi Adamu Candido has warned residents and other stakeholders against disrespecting community leaders especially traditional rulers in the Council.
Candido issued the strong caution during an interactive session with some security agencies on fact findings meeting, to ensure a free,fair and credible elections in FCT, according to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Jibreel Muhammad Babangoshi, and made available yesterday to PeoplesDaily.
The AMAC Chariman also warned residents particularly politicians against dragging Royal fathers into politics, because it portends dangers to the society.
According to him, “Our Royal Fathers custodians of our heritage, cultures, norms and values and no politician will be allowed to disgrace or drag them into politics.”
The statement quoted Candido saying that “Therefore, gone were the days of 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where traditional rulers will be issued threats to their throne of which they inherited, by a politician who is seeking for a 4-8 year term.
“These threats will no longer be tolerated under the present Leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the FCT Minister is serious about that.”
