From Olanrewaju Lawal, Ilorin
The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has urged Islamic clerics across Nigeria to immediately commence special prayers for peaceful release of school girls abducted in Chibok by insurgents.
The group, in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Alh Ibrahim Abdullahi and made available to Journalists in Ilorin, Kwara state, noted that the situation has become more worrisome as the Borno state government has put the number of the abducted school girls at 230.
“This situation has put the whole nation in serious agony, fear and sorrow as nobody knows what has happened to the innocent girls.
“Apart from the missing Malaysian plane over a month ago, this appears to be the worst crime perpetrated in Nigeria in particular and the World at large,” the group noted.
The group appealed to the dominant political parties in the country to suspend all their political activities” so that we can all dedicate ourselves to spiritual devotion for the innocent children to be freed unarmed”.
“Security apparatus in Nigeria should know that this is a test on their ability to withstand and contain terror and terrorism in the country.
“They should therefore redouble their efforts to locate the whereabouts of the helpless and innocent children without further delay.
“We appeal to those responsible for this act to free the abducted children and come to the negotiating table with the federal government, bearing in mind that God that created us does not support evil deeds, even if it is done to avenge any perceived wrongdoings earlier done to them, as He is capable of avenging correctly any wrongdoing if those affected truly believes in Him.”
