The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), has urged delegates to the National Conference to focus on developmental issues and not those that could disintegrate the country.
The National Chairman of CNPP, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja yesterday.
He also called on the delegates to dwell more on how to reduce corruption and “criminal waste of resources”.
“The level of poverty and hunger, insecurity, unemployment and low quality of education and the economic growth in Nigeria should also form part of the agenda of the conference”, he advised.
Musa also drew the attention of delegates to regional issues including environmental degradation in the Niger Delta and the disparity in the level of education between the North and South.
He warned some delegates contemplating to raise the issue of disintegrating Nigeria saying, “how can Nigeria disintegrate when the country has existed for a hundred years”.
Musa advised government to ensure that the resolution of the conference is determined by the three tiers of government. (NAN)
