From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna
Kaduna state Commissioner for Information, Honourable Ben Bako has attributed the success and progress currently being enjoyed in the journalism profession to the sacrifice displaced by some of its past heroes.
Hon. Ben Bako stated this when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Kaduna State Council, yesterday.
Hon. Ben Bako said the journalism profession is an important profession to achieve peace and stability in the country, which according to him cannot be ignored by the government.
“I should have been here long time ago after my appointment as the Commissioner of Information, Kaduna state, but office duties kept me busy; but today, I am here to solicit your support and commend the efforts of your past heroes, especially those who are late, for their tireless effort in uplifting the profession.
In his own remarks, the Kaduna State Council Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Yusuf Idris said the visit of the Commissioner of Information is timely because this is the time that the Kaduna state government and the media should work hand-in-hand to sustain the present peace being enjoyed in the state.
