The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Executive Committee has approved that the Abuja Central Medical Stores (ACMS) operate in line with the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDG), in order to enhance the procurement, storage and distribution of drugs, laboratory reagent and other specialized medical items to all Administration hospitals.
The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed made this disclosure yesterday after the FCT Executive meeting at the Banquet Hall, FCT minister’s residence, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the FCT minister, Muhammad Sule, the minister said that the approval to further ensure regular supply of quality and cost effective medical supplies to the residents of the Territory is in consonance with the Transformation Agenda of the presidency.
“Mohammed recalled that the Federal Ministry of Health in 2011 issued the NDDG, which mandated all the states of the Federation to establish State Drug Distribution Centres (SDDCs).
The main objective of this policy is to put in place a sustainable system for the efficient and effective supply of safe, affordable and good quality drugs at all levels of healthcare on the basis of health needs, in the Public and Private Sectors.
