The Yoruba Muslim Community in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT has called on the Yoruba Muslims to come together in order to complete the ongoing mosque project in the area.
The Otunba of Yoruba Community in the FCT, Chief Wasiu Tunwase, made the call in an interview with newsmen on behalf of Yoruba Muslim Community during the 6th annual celebration of Eid-el-Maulud (Birth of Prophet Mohammed) yesterday in Zuba.
He also urged the committees in charge of the mosque project to redouble their efforts to source for money for the project.
He emphasized that the celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed is very important to Muslim community across the country, due to the roles played by the Prophet during his life time.
He pleaded with Muslims all over the world to continue to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammed for the betterment of the society.
Tunwase, who was the Chairman of the occasion, however, advised both Muslims and Christians to continue to live in peace irrespective of their differences.
Earlier, the guest speaker of the occasion, Sheikh Ibrahim Usman, who entitled his lecture ‘Lets Go Back to Allah to Solve Nigeria problems’, urged Muslims to always worship and obey God, as he charged them on good behavior and harmonious relationship with neighbours wherever they found themselves.
While commenting on the security situation of the country, the Islamic scholar urged Nigerians to continue to pray in order to overcome the prevailing security challenges in the country.
Usman however used the occasion to call on government of the day to fight corruption “that had eaten deep into the fabric of our nation.”
On his part, the Chief of Yoruba Community in zuba, Oba Murtal Odunbaku called on well-meaning Nigerians to contribute immensely towards the progress of the mosque project.
During the occasion, about six persons were conferred with the merit awards based on their contributions towards the development of Yoruba Muslim community.
