The Kaduna State Chapter of Congress for Progressive Change (APC) on Monday constituted a 17-man committee to conduct the party’s congresses beginning from April 5.
Sen. Sani Sale (APC-Kaduna Central) disclosed this at a news briefing in Kaduna.
Flanked by the interim state Chairman of the party, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Sale said the committee was approved by the APC National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande after ameeting in Kaduna attended by Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State.
Saleh said the committee would be co-chaired by him and Baba-Ahmed, with other members drawn from across all interest groups in the party.
He listed other members as Alhaji Ahmadu Coca-Cola, Alhaji Auwal Gote, Alhaji Lawal Aliyu, Alhaji Yaro Makama, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Mr J D Ephraim, Alhaji Datti Garba and Admiral Ibrahim Iko.
Other member are Mr Joel Kwasau, Amb. Sule Buba, Chief Samuel Onyeama, Hajiya Binta Muazu, Mrs Rebbeca Bard, Ms Sheba Kura and Malam Bala Yunusa.
“The party after extensive deliberation further resolved that all party elders should go back to their respective wards and encourage the emergence of consensus candidates where possible,’’ he said.
He however said that even where a consensus was reached, the person chosen must be confirmed by a `yes’ vote.
Sani acknowledged that the party had recently gone through some internal crises, but said they were now united, and warned those fanning embers of disunity to desist. (NAN)
