An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court yesterday dissolved a 17-year-old marriage between, Aina Matthew, and his wife Abimbola, over frequent fighting and promiscuity.
The court’s President, Mr. Joseph Ogunsemi, said that the court had no alternative than to dissolve the marriage after several efforts to reconcile the couple failed.
Ogunsemi ordered that the three children should be with Abimbola while Mathew should be responsible for the payment of the children’s school fees.
He also ordered that Mathew should pay four thousand monthly allowances to each of the three children and have free access to them at all time.
Matthew, 41, had told the court that Abimbola was fond of destroying his property when they fight and lacked respect for his family.
He said that his wife kept bad company and had warned her severally without yielding to corrections.
The petitioner said his wife was a promiscuous and wayward woman, adding that strange persons call her regularly and whenever he picked her call it was always a man’s voice.
The father of three said his wife always use abusive words on him and his families whenever she requested for money and was unable to get it immediately.
Abimbola, 38, denied all the allegations, and said that Mathew was a drunkard and womaniser. She admitted that they both fought and quarreled because he did not care for her and the children.
The respondent also denied that her husband had ever caught her with a man. (NAN)
