Jigawa state high court sitting in Dutse capital has given out an order for the suspension of Jigawa State Foot Ball Association election slated for 1st June 2019 until court determination.
The presiding judge of the court, Hon Justice Ahmed Isa Gumel gave the order after receiving a motion filled before the court by Hussain Muhammed Raleigh through his counsel Barrister Garba Abubakar requesting for the court to restrain the conduct of election on alleged breaching of the electoral process.
Mr Hussain accused the electoral body assigned to conduct the election for disenfranchising him the right to contest the election.
In the order given by the court, which our reporter obtained a copy, said, “ An order of interim injunction is hear by given restraining 1.Jigawa Foot Ball Association, 2. Jigawa state Sport Council 3.Electoral Committee of Jigawa State Foot Ball Association and all other respondents from conducting or assign some body to conduct the election scheduled to hold 1st June 2019 for various offices of the Association.
The judge maintained that, the respondent should restrained from conducting the election until court determination on the motion presented before it.
The order was given under the order 38/rules 1 and 2 of the High Court (civil Procedure Rules) Jigawa state2008 as revised in 2012 and the inherent jurisdiction of the court.
Hon Justice Ahmed Isa also fixed 20th June 2019 for hearing the case.
