Former Gombe state governor, Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje may finally scale through the allegation leveled against him for conniving with 5 others to steal the sum of N25bn belonging to Gombe state government, when he was the governor of the state between 2003 and2011.
It could be recalled that in 2003 and 2011, Senator Goje was accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for looting the treasure belonging to Gombe state government.
According to court proceeding at the Federal High Court in Gombe on Tuesday, witnesses were mandated to testify on the allegation leveled against Senator Goje.
The presiding judge, Justice Babatunde Qudri gave the directive to the defendant seeking clarification by the witness whether the accused person has committed the crime.
According to the defendant counsel, Mr. Wahab Shittu, he told the court that after cross-examination by the court on Tuesday, the witness was rushed to EFCC clinic and was told that his blood pressure shot up to 160 degrees, which he said the witness may not be able to ascertain the questions put to him during the cross-examination by the court due to his health background.
While cross-examining the witness by the counsel to EFCC, Mr. Chris Uche confirmed to the court that the witness, after being cross-examined, was unable to inform the court what exactly transpired that led to the arrest of the accused person.
The court had however adjourned the case to 6th and 7th of May 2014 for hearing.
