A one-day training on hand washing and clean Nigeria campaign on COVID-19 prevention for the National Youth Volunteers has commenced at Issele Uku, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Declaring the training open yesterday, the Zonal Coordinator, South South states of the body, Mrs Susan Offiono of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, enjoined participants to take the training seriously, saying that it would equipped them with the necessary knowledge that would be impacted on the residents in the various communities they would be posted to for sensitisation.
The zonal coordinator, who was represented by Mr Precious Elue Ainocha, disclosed that Local Government Area (LGA) WASH UNITS officers would support the programme implementation in their respective localities.
According to her, the youth were expected to commence field implementation immediately after the training.
She explained that the youths were to go into the various communities to sensitise the people on the need to build decent toilets and embrace proper hand washing culture.
She added that they were expected to visit schools and health centres in their respective areas of coverage and expressed the hope that the local government chairmen in the state would support the programme to succeed.
