Nemesis caught up with cross border arms dealers who have been supplying arms to armed robbers that has been terrorising parts of Lagos,Oyo and Anambra State by men of the anti-robbery squad(SARS) who arrested them.
Briefing newsmen at the Lagos State. Police Command Lagos state Commissioner ,Mr Umar Mankoa said that on the 10th march 2014 at about 0300hrs,based on information one notorious armed robber Olatunbosun Olatunji was arrested at Sabaru area of Ikorodu,in Lagos State.
Revealing further Manko said that it was Olatunji who when quizzed that confessed that the AK47 rifle recovered from him was bought from one Abdulazeez Amao said to be a notorious arms dealer in Ibadan Oyo State.
On the spur of the information, Manko said two SARS decoy teams were deployed to Ibadan Oyo State and that after eight days of intensive and diligent follow up the notorious arms dealer Abdul-Azeez Amao was arrested in his house at Ayegun Adasun area of Ibadan in Oyo State where 10 AK47 rifles with S/Nos UY472072,8403662,1625,1978MG-16939,026909,1953CH6248,1954B101647,00569,1950N442 and 563618149.
In a chat with our correspondent, Abdulazeez Amao said he had sold several AK47 and English pistols to several buyers in Oyo,Lagos and Anambra States.
He further revealed that his source of supply is in Ouagadougu, the capital of Burkina Faso,and that one Zakari Watara sold each of the gun at Six hundred thousand CFA(600,000CFA)equivalent of two hundred thousand Naira(200,000) each and that he usually hides the guns from the prying eyes of security personnel in either milk cartons or bags filled with yam flour transporting them to Ibadan through Kabo border.
Olatunji Olatunbosun on his part claimed that he is a farmer/hunter and not a armed dealer but merely directed a buyer to Abdul-Azeez.
