From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
Zamfara State Police Command has announced the discovery of the name of Governor Matawalle inscribed in Arabic language among the list of names of other political leaders of the state in a house being converted to a shrine in Unguwar Dallatu quarters, the Gusau metropolis.
Displaying the exhibits which were recovered after destroying the shrine, Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo, said the Police received credible information that some people were planning devilish moves against some leaders of the state by using unorthodox means to achieve their ill-conceived agenda.
The recovered items from the shrine abandoned by two suspects held by the Police include a calabash full of blood, a pot full of yellowish water and rosary encircled into it and a local stuff full of charcoal and scents poured on it.
Other items recovered were a pot containing many needles, another open pot which contained some local powdered, a local cattle designed in helmet shape with Arabic inscription and a polythene bag containing clothes in black, red and white colours bearing designs of human skeleton.
According to the Commissioner, “The information had it that, a house in Unguwar Dallatu quarters has become a source of worry to the inhabitants of the area. They decided to pass the information which puzzled many people.
“And one of the assertions they made was that, the place has become a shrine that whenever the evil doers entered the house, lizards and ants will die around the area, and nobody has access into the house except the participants”, CP Nagogo added.
One of the immediate neighbours of the destroyed shrine who preferred anonymity said he heard a woman screaming for help last Monday at about 2:30am-03am which he thought was just misunderstanding between two lovers.
