The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), International Wing Command at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos has said it detected substances which were suspected to be hard drugs, packaged in a consignment of six packages.
The package containing various spare parts and household goods were for examination at the SAHCOL export shed for export to Gabon.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Thelma Williams told reporters on Tuesday that the substance was detected during joint examination by officers of Service, led by DSC Toyin Momoh and other agencies.
She said five wraps of the substance, suspected to be hard drugs, were found concealed in one of the stabilizers.
Thelma explained that tests carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), confirmed the substance to be cocaine with total weight of 600 grammes.
She said the substance has been transferred to the NDLEA and the agent, Mr. Nyeaka Anslem has been detained at the NDLEA cell and that the package in which the hard drug was found has also been confiscated by the NDLEA, while the remaining five packages of the consignment have been transferred to government warehouse pending further investigations.
