The Niger State Department of Petroleum Resources DPR has warned marketers in the state to desist from diversion of product just as it has stepped up surveillance to arrest defaulters.
The state Operations Controller, Engr Abdullahi Isah Jankara handed down the warning while meeting with the marketers from Mokwa, New Bussa and Babana axis of the state were the NCDC and department arrested 8 trucks of PMS diverted towards Benin Republic.
Jankara advised the marketers to obtain their licenses from the DPR to make their business legitimate hence must be guided by the rules and regulations of the federal government as well the sales if the product at regulated price of N145 per litre.
The Controller, however, issued 8 licenses to various companies from the axis just as DPR insisted on monitoring the marketers from the depots to their destinations to enhance delivery of the product at the right location and stations.
He noted that the current challenges was due to the scarcity of the product hence the need for adequate surveillance to avoid diversion noted that the federal government frown at such menace urging the marketers to cooperate with the department as it will not take serious action on anyone found wanting.
