The Vice Chancellor Federal University Dutse, Professor Fatima Batoul Mukhtar has said that, there is nothing like double pension deduction from its workers and removal of hazard allowance by the university.
Professor Batoul dropped the hint yesterday while addressing news men shortly after a protest by the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) in the school.
“The allegations are baseless and unfounded as the university is not in any way making double deduction or removed the said hazard allowances.
“Even the 2014 Act the deduction should be 8% from the employer and the Federal government will contribute 10%,” she said.
The Vice chancellor said the Federal government is yet to implemented the act and the University did not started to employment it.
The Joint Action committee Federal University, Dutse in Jigawa state have protested over alleged double pension deduction and removal of hazard and responsibility allowances.
They alleged that the university is making 18% deduction of pension contributions against the Federal government approved 7.5%.
Both Academic and Non Academic staff staged a protest holding placards With so many inscriptions “illegal pension deduction” , ‘pay us our money”, “VC Bursar must go” and “You ate ram with our money. “
Chairman Joint Action committee JAC Muhammad Shehu Usman said the decision follows the Congress emergency meeting held on the 11th February, 2020.
He explained that the Congress deliberated extensively and agreed with the following conditions.
“ That the University management should as soon as possible to re-install back and pay the removed Hazard allowances as contained in the 2009 FGN/Union agreement and Refund of pension double deduction”
He said failure to meet the conditions of the Joint action committee congress may lead to the Unions to declare industrial dispute and start processes of industrial action.
The VC then, urged the employers to who are entitle with the allowances and are denied to forward their complains to the university authorities.
