Erstwhile chairman of the Benue State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Andrew Ayabam has indicated interest to contest the senatorial seat for Benue North- East district.
Mr. Ayabam who disclosed this to Peoples Daily on phone yesterday, said based on the zoning arrangement which favors Kwande/Ushongo, he has been under undue pressure by his people to throw his hat in the race.
He added that the people also put into consideration his tremendous good will and service to the state when he headed the revenue board.
“I am not unmindful of my people’s expression of good will, love and appreciation for my person and their expectations that I am stepping out to legitimatize this”, he said.
The banking czar and business mogul who hails from Ushongo local government area said he is yet to decide on what party platform to contest, averring that soon he will make that known after due consultation with his people.
It would be recalled that Ayabam who performed very well as chair of the revenue board and raised the internally generated revenue of the state, IGR was pushed out of office by Suswam’s government in a manner that sparked off public outcry. Now, he is in the race against his former boss.
