Managers of Estates in Abuja, the nation’s capital have been reminded that they were mandated to accept only painted taxis registered with licensed operators, the Secretary, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Transportation Secretariat, Mr. Jonathan Ivoke, has disclosed.
He pointed out that the FCT administration held meeting with estate mangers, where they were told to allow only recognized painted taxis to operate in their environs.
“We had meetings with the estate managers; we told them that they were mandated to allow only painted taxis that belong to licensed operators,” the Secretary said, while answering questions from newsmen recently, during an enforcement exercise in the FCT.
According to him, they (estates) are supposed to allow only drivers that belong to these organisations to drive into their estates because we have their biometric information.
Recall that following the expiration of October 1 deadline for the registration of all unpainted commercial vehicles plying Abuja roads, the FCT Transport Secretariat has since started the arrest of defaulters in the FCT.
