Ambassador of the European Union and Head of Delegation to Nigeria, and the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), Michel Arrion, has announced the EU’s resolution to hold its 1st International Trade Fairs, agrofood Nigeria 2015, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos state.
In a recent later to Nigerian government, The EU officially grants its support for the agrofood Nigeria 2015, slated for 28-30 April 2015, saying “Nigeria has a market of more than 160 million consumers and an increasing demand for packaged and ready-made food products.”
Arrion describes the Nigerian market thus, “The food and beverage sector represents a very large segment of the Nigerian manufacturing industry. The sector generates over 1.5 million jobs in the country and therefore employs 5 percent of the Nigerian workforce.”
“Moreover, with a market of over 160 million consumers, and a constantly growing population, Nigeria has an increasing demand for packaged and ready-made food products. Against this background, European suppliers can play an important role in providing the Nigerian food manufacturing and agro-business industry with machinery, equipment and technological know-how meeting a high degree of food safety and compliance with international hygienic standards,” he explained.
He said the event will open major business opportunities for international suppliers from the agrofood and food technology sector.
Arrion also informed that six months before its opening, adepta is about setting up an official French pavilion with a minimum of eight French companies and leading suppliers such as Alis-Casa Rinaldi, BCE Food Service, Bosch, Döhler, GEA, Goma, Kautex, Konica Minolta, Pakona, Symrise (who recently opened their office in Lagos), Windmöller and Hölscher and many more have booked their stands.
To create valuable synergies for exhibitors and visitors alike, agrofood Nigeria is held in conjunction with plastprintpack Nigeria, the 1st International Trade Show on Plastics, Composites, Chemistry and Printing and Packaging Solutions and Material.
