A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader, Edo state chapter, Vincent Akhere was yesterday lynched by suspected thugs at the party secretariat in Benin, where the former Special Adviser to Governor, Adams Oshiomhole on protocol, Mr. Agharese Idubor and two others also announced their defection to All Progressives Congress (APC).
Some aggrieved youths, who chanted war songs, were said to have lost their patience over alleged missing N500, 000 (five hundred thousand Naira) life-line given to them by a prominent minister, who was in the state last weekend on project inspection.
The former commissioner of arts, culture and tourism was said to have been thrown on the floor, prompting the intervention of some leaders of the party.
He however raised serious concern over irregularities contained in the account details given to him.
The intervention of former State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Inumidun Idehen saved the situation.
Confirming the attack in a telephone interview, Mr. Vincent Akhere said the disagreement was a spill-over of a trip to Abuja.
He said the visit was at the instance of the First Lady; Dame Patience Jonathan’s meeting with all the youth leaders of PDP across the federation some weeks ago.
“We had a disagreement, which was a carry-over problem from Abuja by some youths who were not invited to Abuja, yet found themselves in Abuja”, he stated.
