The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has approved the appointment of Dr. Ndaeyo Akpan Iwot, as the new acting executive secretary, FCT Primary Health Care Board (FCT-PHCB).
With this appointment, which takes effect immediately, Dr. Iwot thus replaces Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, whose 8-year tenure ended on September 26, 2018.
Until his appointment, Dr. Iwot was the director, Primary Health Care (PHC) department of the board in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The new acting executive secretary attended the famous Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar, in Cross River State, for his secondary education before proceeding to the University of Calabar, where he obtained an MBBCH Degree.
He later attended the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for a master’s degree in public health, and the Paris Graduate School, where he obtained an MBA in health care management.
Iwot, who is an indigene of Akwa Ibom State had also served in different capacities in his medical career, including being the pioneer medical officer of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Nasarawa, Keffi, Suleja and Kuje prisons, from 1993to 1996.
He was the health care coordinator, Area Council Service Commission (ACSC) on posting to Abaji and Kuje area councils from 1996 to (2008)and served as head of Planning Research and Statistics(PRS), FCT-PHCB, between 2010 and 2012, including other appointments.
