The FCT Administration through its Department of Science and Technology of the Education Secretariat looks set to hold its 4th Science and technology Expo tagged: FASTECH 2018, in Utako District, this week.
PeoplesDaily learnt that FASTECH is a platform designed to identify and bring together all stakeholders including public and private scientists, inventors, artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services as well as harness the economic and scientific potentials of the science and technology sector, that can be applied for everyday living.
According to a statement by Assistant Director (Information), FCT Education Secretariat, Anthony Ogunleye, the theme for FASTECH 2018 “Technology and Society in the 21stCentury” aims at examining the relationship between the ordinary man and the use of technology as well as relevant areas of transfer of knowledge, entrepreneurship, adaptation of technology, production of scientific and technological goods, herbal products as well as extension services.
It disclosed that the event kicks off from tomorrow (Tuesday to Thursday, March 15) with speakers such as Professor Michael Umale Adikwu, Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja, who will deliver the Keynote Address, Dr Shola Odusanya, CEO, Biocrop Biotechnology Ltd, who will deliver a paper titled “Science and Technology in Agricultural Value Chain for Economic Development” and Dr Ndagi Abdulmalik of the National Board for Technological Incubation who will deliver his paper titled “Building Trust in Indigenous Products/Goods”.
Others expected at the event include, FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello; the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; and various heads of agencies and Departments of the FCTA and the FMST as well as inventors, entrepreneurs, artisans and students who will be showcasing their products and inventions.
