The Secretary of Education Secretariat, in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Isa Maina, called on residents of the Territory to vote wisely in the forthcoming general election, in order to elect competent and credible people into positions.
Maina gave this advice after submitting his nomination and interest forms to contest the only senatorial seat in the FCT, under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He maintained that the national assembly needs somebody with a pedigree, who has the capacity, education, competence, exposure and knows the politics and happenings in the senate, and not pushovers.
The senatorial aspirant noted that although, the FCT has one senatorial seat, residents have not felt the impact of proper representation at the senate, adding that many communities in the territory have no potable water, no development and no access roads.
Maina lamented that the bill for the establishment the proposed Abuja University of Science and Technology, Abaji (AUSTA), has been pending at the national assembly for many years, due to incompetent representation at the senate.
He frowned that some national assembly members have converted funds meant for their constituency projects in their communities into buying motorcycles for campaigns during elections.
The aspirant urged residents not to waste their votes on such candidates, adding that he is seeking re-election into the senate to enable him touch the lives of youths and women in the territory, who have made him what he is today.
