A female student in Sapele, Delta State identified as Chiwendu Nwanchukwu at the weekend allegedly defaced her boyfriend with hot water for allegedly cheating on her and escaped into the thin air.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State,DSP Onome Onovuwakpoyeya who confirmed the incident to journalists said that the suspect, a student of the State owned College of Education in Mossoga Community is currently on the run after she had allegedly committed the crime, adding that the Police have intensified efforts to bring her to book as soon as possible.
She was alleged to have launched the attack on her boyfriend (name withheld) after minor disagreement over the alleged randy activities as the incident occurred at Junice hostel,a walkable distance from the School where she allegedly emptied a bowl of hot water on the boy unsuspectingly.
Chiwendu is currently on the run while her parents are now arrested and are being detained at the Sapele Police Station for further investigation but however, the victim is on admission receiving treatment at the Sapele General Hospital while investigation by the Police is ongoing .
Meanwhile, barely 12 years after major communal crisis claimed the lives of six persons and 12 buildings razed, the oil rich Okpai Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State is at the verge of another chaos as the authority of the monarch, His Royal Majesty ( HRM) Goldring Ugbome 11, is being challenged by some of his subjects who accused him of dictatorship with a two -day ultimatum to rescind the decisions taken concerning the composition of the newly constituted Community Development Committee (CDC) or face the consequences of his actions.
Chiedu Ofulu, one of the leaders in the community in a press release made available to Journalists said. “We are set to do battle with the monarch because he refused to carry us along, another bone of contention is one of the clauses that empowers the monarch to own 20 percent of whatever is accruable to the oil rich Kingdom that is hosting the multi billion dollars Okpai gas plant, We are pleading with the Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene to avert another blood bath, especially with the greedy activities of the monarch at present.”
