Federal government has unveiled series of activities to mark 2022 democracy day.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammade made this known to newsmen
yesterday, during a press conference ahead of the commemoration of this year’s democracy day anniversary.
He said following the extensive work by an inter-ministerial committee,the following programmes are scheduled for the celebration of 2022 Democracy Day.
Mohammed stated that six special programmme has been set up for Friday June 10th to 13th .
“This Press Conference officially kickstarts the programme of activities,
a public lecture is scheduled to hold tomorrow, Friday 10th June, at the National Mosque here in Abuja at 9am.
This will be followed, on the same day and the same venue, by a
Juma’at Service at noon.
Peoples Daily recalls that, President Muhammadu Buhari, in June 2018,
directed that Nigeria’s Democracy Day, marked every May 29, be shifted
to June 12 to honour Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 presidential
election.

“We are on track celebrating democracy day June 12. Apart from paying tribute to MKO Abiola, many Nigerians have struggled their way through sustaining democracy in Nigeria, it is worth the celebration”,he said.
He assured of the efforts of security to effectively police the environment.
“Our security agencies are up to task to secure the environment and the nation”.
He emphasized that,attendance at these events is strictly by invitation and in line with the Covid 19 protocol.
